Project Description

X Houston

Location: Houston, Texas
Client: Myrex Industries
Project Type: Commercial – High-Rise / Mixed-Use Development
Scope: Steel Detailing for Miscellaneous Steel, Multi-Level Stair Systems, and Access Components

Project Overview

X Houston is a high-rise development in Houston, Texas, featuring extensive vertical circulation and access systems integrated within a complex structural environment. The project demanded a high level of repetition, accuracy, and coordination due to the scale of the building and the number of levels involved.

Structures Online (SOL) was responsible for the detailed modeling and steel detailing of critical miscellaneous steel components, with a primary focus on a large-scale staircase system extending across approximately 31 floors. Precision, constructability, and erection efficiency were key drivers throughout the detailing process.

Scope of Work

Multi-Level Staircase System
The project included a continuous staircase system spanning approximately 31 floors, detailed with precise alignment and consistency across all flights. SOL modeled complete assemblies including stringers, treads, landings, and railing systems, ensuring continuity and repeatability for efficient fabrication and modular erection.

Intermediate Stair Unit and Access Connections
Individual staircase units connecting intermediate levels were fully detailed, including landing beams, supporting columns, and connection interfaces with the primary structure. Railing and handrail assemblies were coordinated with platform geometry to maintain uniform height, alignment, and code compliance throughout the tower.

Vertical Access Ladder with Safety Gate
A vertical access ladder system was detailed with accurate rung spacing, side rail alignment, and anchorage coordination. A lockable safety gate was incorporated at the base to restrict unauthorized access and enhance operational safety. All brackets, hinges, and support components were modeled for fabrication accuracy and compliance with maintenance access standards.

Key Deliverables

  • Comprehensive 3D models for stair systems,      landings, railings, and ladder assemblies.

  • Shop and fabrication drawings optimized      for repetitive units across multiple floors.

  • Detailed connection drawings coordinating stair      interfaces with the primary structural frame.

  • CNC-ready data and erection-sequenced assemblies for efficient      field installation.

Project Outcome

Through meticulous detailing and repetition-driven modeling, Structures Online contributed to the successful execution of X Houston, delivering safe, durable, and constructible access systems for a complex high-rise environment. The project demonstrates SOL’s expertise in large-scale vertical circulation detailing, multi-level coordination, and precision-driven steel modeling for high-rise developments.
