Project Overview


The TMC Rincon Neighborhood Hospital project involved detailed steel modeling and coordination for a healthcare facility designed to support modern medical operations and patient services. The project required precise steel detailing for structural framing, screen wall systems, and various access components integrated throughout the building.


Structures Online (SOL) provided comprehensive steel detailing services, ensuring that all structural and miscellaneous steel elements were modeled with fabrication-ready accuracy. Careful coordination between structural members, access systems, and architectural features ensured smooth fabrication, efficient installation, and long-term structural performance.


Scope of Work


Column Splice Connection:
This connection represents a column splice joint, where two column segments are joined at an intermediate level to maintain structural continuity. The splice utilizes bolted plates located on the column flanges. Each plate was modeled with accurately positioned bolt holes, proper edge distances, and coordinated plate thicknesses to ensure correct alignment and reliable installation during erection.


Screen Wall System:
A screen wall assembly was detailed along the perimeter of the elevated framing system. The system includes vertical posts, horizontal rails, and inclined support members that were precisely aligned to maintain uniform height, straightness, and visual continuity along the entire run. Post-to-beam connections were coordinated using bolted plates and brackets, ensuring a clean fit-up and simplified field installation.


Structural Framing System:
The structural framing beneath the main building structure includes longitudinal support members, transverse secondary beams, and diagonal bracing elements. Cantilevered members were carefully aligned and spaced to integrate with the supporting frame. Column base plates and beam-to-beam connections were detailed with fabrication-ready precision to maintain proper geometry and coordination across the entire framing system.


Miscellaneous Steel Components:
The project also included a variety of miscellaneous steel assemblies, such as stair systems, dock-level access framing, and guardrail installations. Stair assemblies were modeled with complete detailing of stringers, treads, landings, and handrail systems, coordinated with surrounding beams and columns to maintain safe access and consistent geometry. Guardrails, posts, and base connections were detailed with accurate spacing and anchorage to ensure secure and obstruction-free installation.
